VIU Projects

I completed the last two years of my Interior Design degree at Vancouver Island University. In these years, I really developed my skills in space planning complex spaces, producing detailed working drawings, and in finish selection.
The Overboard Hotel

This project was the focus of my graduation year at VIU. The aim of the project was to take the plans from an existing building and to create a complete drawing set and design solution to take the original space through demolition and construction into an entirely new use. I chose to turn the second floor of The Landing building in Vancouver's historic Gastown from an office space into a hostel and concert hall. I completed extensive research and put together a proposal for the feasibility of this development as a business, looking at tourism, transportation, and target market.

Pied A Terre Restaurant - Nanaimo Location

The goal of this project was the take the marketing and design elements of an existing restaurant and adapt them to a new location, adding improvements where possible. Pied A Terre is a lovely casual French bistro in Vancouver's South Cambie neighbourhood - it has a great design aesthetic, which I translated into a new space. Working with a bigger floor plan than the original restaurant, I was able to create a layout with multiple zones, add some more work areas for staff, and also explore some design features that would not have fit in with the scale of the original location.

dear, Stationery Store

"dear," is a stationery store which focuses on recycled elements and sustainability. The concept for this store is fun, bright and cheerful - the store not only sells stationery and crafting supplies ,but is also home to a crafting community where people can meet and participate in workshops.
